| The storage and transit of increasing range of potentially dangerous or harmfull materials is covered by Acts of Parliament, like the Pesticides Regulations 1986; The Food and Environment Act 1985; The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974; HFL/LPG Regualtions 1972 and the Petrolium Consolidation Acts 1928/36. Following these Acts come guidelines and codes of practice from interested monitering bodies such as the health and safety executive, the National Rivers authority, B.A.S.I.S, The Fire Brigade and Trading Standards which help to translate the legal requirements into storage criteria. The 'FLAMSAFE' and 'CHEMSAFE' names have become synonymous with these criteria. |
